  1. No, of course not! There are several great schools that are just as good, or even BETTER than Ivy League schools that would look great when applying for MBA programs. Make sure you have excellent marks, however, and good academic and personal qualities. Columbia is a tough school, but I’m sure if you worked hard enough, you could get in. If you really want a good education, don’t go to UMass Amherst, it isn’t the best of schools. Hope this helped, good luck!

  2. Not at all. You need to have gone to what’s considered an academically strong univerisity, though – a school in the top 100/150 or so colleges in the US would work. You’d then need a high GMAT, plus the work experience and etc. that elite level MBA programs require.
So you needn’t go to Harvard. UMass Amherst would work fine.

  3. No, but it would score you some brownie points. What’s even more important is that you have a high GMAT score and a high GPA mixed with some good post-graduate work experience.
